Mascot Mandeville kicks off UK tour by visiting college
London 2012 Paralympic mascot, Mandeville has begun its adventure around the UK by visiting Hereford Sixth Form College and taking part in the Hereford Youth Games.

London 2012 short film competition opens for submissions
Young film-makers can win the chance to get their work showcased at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games by entering Film Nation: Shorts - a short film competition for 14 to 25-year-olds.

British Library launches Games website & calls for articles
The British Library has launched a new website called Sport and Society that views London 2012 through the lens of social science and is appealing for people to contribute their existing Games-related articles and publications.

Students needed for London 2012 advisory group
Podium is working with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) to recruit a panel of 10 students at London Higher Education Institutes to serve on a small student advisory group.

500th Inspire Mark awarded at University of Leeds
Lord Sebastian Coe, Chair of London 2012, and Hugh Robertson MP, Minister for Sport and Olympics, visited University of Leeds School of Music to present ‘Steps to Inclusion’ with the Inspire Mark – the 500th project to be awarded the prestigious logo.

Volunteering England is currently developing a set of practical tips and strategies to promote partnerships between volunteer centres, further education colleges and local authorities as it prepares for the 10th anniversary of Student Volunteering Week .

Kenyan runners' tour and talk at University of Bedfordshire
Four of the world’s greatest runners, including a current Olympic champion, have visited the University of Bedfordshire to talk with students and staff whilst receiving a guided tour of the institution’s state-of-the-art facilities.

Five students and five staff from the College of North West London have been on an eight-day fact-finding trip to China, further enhancing the partnership between the College and the Beijing Electrical Engineering School.

BUCS Conference 2010 starts next Tuesday 13 July and runs for three days with guest speakers including London 2012's Director of Paralympic Integration, Chris Holmes.
Vcashpoint grants of £2,500 are available to 16 to 25-year-olds in England with ideas for London 2012 inspired projects in their communities.
Colleges can win a visit from a top class athlete through the Get Set network by demonstrating how they are learning about the Olympic and Paralympic values.
